Од 1967. до краја 1981
године радио
је на
Пољопривредном
добру
“Гучево” у
Лозници као
руководилац
сточарства и
директор Добра
(1967-1978), и у СО
Лозница, као
заменик
председника
општине (мај 1978 –
1. децембар 1981).
Првог
децембра 1981.
прелази у
Београд,
Институт за
сточарство. У
Институту је
радио као
истраживач,
шеф одељења,
заменик
директора и
директор (1989-2001). У
међувремену,
1992/93 године био
је члан прве
Владе СР
Југославије
и Савезни
министар за
пољопривреду.
Од маја 2002. ради
на
Технолошком
факултету у
Новом Саду и “Агриконсу”
доо Београд.
У научна звања биран је у периоду од 1982-1987 године, а у наставно 1995. за предмет “Зоотехника”. Предавања по позиву држао је на факултетима Njitra (Slovakia), Bernburg (Germany) и Azaria (Nigeria).
Године 1985. био је на вишемесечном усавршавању на Универзитету у Гетингену, Немачка, а 1987. на Универзитетима у Прагу и Њитри, Чехословачка. Редовни је члан Академије инжењерских наука Србије и инострани члан Академије пољопривредних наука Републике Словачке. Члан је немачког научног друштва за одгајивање животиња, Међународног одбора за ембриотрансфер (Словачка) и Одбора за товне расе говеда (Француска). Оснивач је водећег националног часописа “Биотехнологија у сточарству” и 17 година његов главни и одговорни уредник. Такође је био оснивач и председник Међународног организационог комитета 6 међународних Симпозијума за област сточарства (1988-2001), као и Првог Међународног Конгреса о сточарству, одржаног 1997. у Београду.
У бившој СФРЈ био је експерт за говедарство, а у СРЈ експерт за сточарство. Био је члан Одбора за биологију и биотехнику Министарства за науку и технолошки развој Републике Србије и директор развојног програма за унапређење сточарства и производа анималног порекла у оквиру Националног програма “Биотехнологија и агроиндустрија” (2001-2007). Од 1994-2001. био је члан Републичке комисије за потврђивање научног звања, а од 2001-2003. председник Научно-стручног Савета за сточарство Републике Србије.
Др Ратко Лазаревић је носилац Ордена заслуга за народ са сребрним зрацима (1980), Повеље заслужног члана Савеза пољ. инжењера и технолога Србије (1980) и СФР Југославије (1985), Повеље првог пословног човека године за науку и технолошки развој Србије (1998), Новчане награде Привредне Коморе Београд (1999), Повеље Привредне Коморе Југославије за менаџера године у науци (2000).
Др Ратко Лазаревић је ожењен и има двоје деце (ћерка и син) и двоје унучади.
Научни рад др Лазаревића обухвата истраживања у области одгајивања, селекције, генетике и исхране домаћих животиња у циљу повећања приноса и квалитета млека и меса гајених животиња, као и примена и коришћење нових биотехнологија у сточарству.
До сада је објавио преко 300 наслова, од чега је једини аутор у 95 радова и први аутор у 119 радова. У иностраним часописима, Конгресима и Симпозијумима објавио је 51 рад. Ови радови су цитирани преко 400 пута. Реферат по позиву на Међународним скуповима држао је 28 пута. Објавио је 15 књига, од којих је у 14 једини или први аутор.
Са француским и домаћим истраживачима створио је два трорасна генотипа говеда за производњу меса. Рукуводио је израдом 13 научно-истраживачких и 16 развојних пројеката. Урадио је 38 студија и извођачких пројеката и водио је 4 међународна пројекта. У његовој области истраживања урађено је 15 докторских дисертација и више магистарских теза. Био је члан Комисије за оцену и одбрану 9 докторских дисертација. Са својим технологијама је учествовао на Сајмовима Нових технологија у Београду (1994-1999), Краснојарску (1996) и Лајпцигу (1998).
Др Лазаревић један је од пионира у области развоја фармског сточарства у Републици Србији.
RATKO M. LAZAREVIĆ, the full member of the AESS from 1999 and the Secretary of the Department for biotechnological sciences since 1999, was born 1941 in Velika Lomnica, Krusevac, by father Momir and mother Bosiljka, born Nikolic. He graduated at the Faculty of agriculture, Department for cattle breeding, in Belgrade 1965. He received a doctorate at the same Faculty 1980. He worked in Agriculture farm GUCEVO as a manager for cattle breeding and as the director of the Farm (1967-1978), as well as in Community Assembly of Loznica as President Representative from May 1978 to December 1st 1981, when he moved to Belgrade to work in the Institute for cattle breeding, as research worker, department manager, director representative and the director (1989-2001). In the meantime, 1992-93 he was the member of the first Government of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia and the Federal Minister for agriculture. Since May 2002 he is employed at the Faculty of technology and in AGRICONS doo Belgrade.
The scientific titles he has been receiving from 1982-1987, and the teaching title he received in 1995 for the subject “Zoo technique”. He gave lectures on invitations at the faculties of the Universities in Njitra (Slovakia), in Bernburg (Germany) in Azaria (Nigeria).
In 1985 he recieved the advanced training, lasting several months, at the University in Gettingen (Germany), and in 1987 in Prague and Njitra (Czechoslovakia). He is the regular member of the Academy of engineering sciences of Serbia and the foreign member of the Academy of agriculture sciences of Republic of Slovakia. He is the member of the German scientific association for animal breeding, the International council for embriotransfer (Slovakia) and the Council for fattening cattle types (France). He is the founder and the president of the International organization committee of six international symposiums for the field of cattle breeding (1988-2001) as well as of the First International Congress on cattle breeding, held in Belgrade 1997.
In the former SFR of Yugoslavia he was the expert for cattle breeding and in the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia for livestock. He was the member of the Council for biology and biotechnique of the Ministry for science and technological development of the Republic of Serbia and the director of the developing program for livestock and animal products, within the National program “Biotechnology and augroindustry” (2001-2007). From 1994-2001 he was the member of the Republic Commission for certification of scientific titles, and from 2001-2003 the president of Scientific-professional council for cattle breeding of the Republic of Serbia.
PhD Ratko Lazarevic is the recipient of the Medal for national merits with silver rays (1980), of the Charter of the meritorious member of the Association of agriculture engineers and technologists of Serbia (1980) and of FR of Yugoslavia (1985). He also earned the financial prize of the Economic Council of Belgrade (1999), and the Charter of the Yugoslav Economic Council as the manager of the year in science (2000).
Ph. D. Ratko Lazarevic is married and has two children (son and daughter) and two grandchildren.
His scientific work includes researches in the field of raising, selection, genetics and feeding of domestic animals with the aim to increase the yield and quality of milk and meat of animals, as well as the application of new biotechnologies in cattle breeding.
He published over 300 titles, where he was the sole author in 95 and the first author in 119 papers. In international journals, Congresses and Symposiums he published 51 paper. The mentioned articles are cited over 400 times. He submitted 28 reports on invitation in international symposiums. He published 15 books, where he is the sole or the first author in 14 books. Together with French and domestic researchers he produced two three type cattle genotypes for meat production. He conducted 13 scientific-research and 16 developing projects. He made 38 studies and contractor projects and conducted 4 international projects. In his field of research 15 doctoral dissertations and several M.A. examinations accomplished. He was the member of the Commission for 9 doctoral defenses. With his technologies he took part in Fairs of new technologies in Belgrade (1994-1999), Krasnoyarsk (1996) and Leipzig (1998).
PhD Ratko Lazarevic is one of the pioneers in the field of farm cattle breeding in Serbia.
